The head of the Roman Catholic Church in Fiji has congratulated the newly-elected Government and says the church will support it and work with it for the betterment of Fiji.

Archbishop Father Peter Loy Chong was speaking at a confirmation mass at Saint Michael’s Parish in Nadi.

“We congratulate the Government for being elected, and the Electoral Commission for the completion of the election. We will support the Government and work together with them for the betterment of the people, ampoule ” he said.

Archbishop Chong, who has just returned from the Vatican City – the global headquarters of the faith, said governments and faith groups had one thing in common.

“That is to serve the people. We need to look at things from the heart of a person and make sure that they are being heard with their concerns,” he said.
