A bench warrant has been issued for a witness in a court case against a soldier on secondment to the Department of Immigration.
Jone Ratunidawasamu Senibici is charged with one count of accepting an advantage by the Fiji Independent Commission against Corruption (FICAC).
Senior State Counsel Temalesi Waqabaca made the application for the bench warrant to be issued against the main witness.
According to Ms Waqabaca, Yong Pan was served summons but failed to appear in court on the day of hearing Yong Pan has left the country according to information received by Prosecution
Senibici, represented by Tobia Ravuniwa from Vakaloloma and Associates,appeared before Magistrate Somaratne at the Suva Magistrates Court.
The matter has been adjourned for 9 January 2014 for Hearing.
It is alleged that on 28 June 2013, without the general or special permission of the President, Senibici accepted an advantage, namely a Babu silver and gold plated wristwatch from Yong Pan.
