Visitor arrivals to Fiji totalled about 55,493 last month (November), an increase of 8 per cent compared with the same period last year.
Government statistician Epeli Waqavonovono said there were increases in the number of visitors from New Zealand, China, Pacific Islands, US, Asia, Australia, Continental Europe, South Korea and the UK.
“New Zealand visitors recorded an increase of 1221 visitors or 17.2 per cent to 8312, China was up by 970 visitors or 47.5 per cent to 3013 visitors, Pacific Islands had an increase of 117 people or 24.4 per cent to 3931 visitors while the US recorded an increase of 625 visitors or 15 per cent to 4785,” he said.
“The rest of Asia recorded an increase of 405 visitors or 41.9 per cent to 1371, Australia was up 333 visitors or 1.2 per cent to 27,902, Continental Europe was also up by 268 visitors or 11.9 per cent to 2529 while South Korea had an increase of 56.3 per cent to 569) and the UK was also up by 1.4 per cent to 1377 visitors.”
However, there was a drop in the number of visitors from Canada and Japan.
