MJ aims high

The Fiji Pearls lifted the Tri Series Plus One netball tournament winners award last night after a nail biting encounter with Northern Ireland, winning in extra time by a single point.

Maria Joesphine Lutua was a key player in the side who notched a total of 65 points in the two matches of which she scored 26 points in the final match which proved crucial in the win. MJ as she best known by her team mates and friends said “The game last night was one of the most thrilling matches I have ever played.”

The 25 year old Macuata lass plays again in the shooting circle tonight in the test match against the same opponents’ and aims to score over 30 points and is very confident she can do it. “The game tonight is just as important as last night’s match and we know Northern Ireland will be out to seek revenge, ” Says MJ at The Pearl resort earlier today.

Winning tonight’s game is vital for the Fiji Pearls to ensure they don’t lose points in world rankings. Fiji are currently ranked 9th and Northern Ireland are 11th in the world. MJ will be out to do her Country proud again tonight whether she plays GA or GS.

MJ’s inspirations have always been her parents who always find time to watch their daughter in action especially when she dawns the National Jumpers. Maria at the age of 21 was recognized by former National coach Melissa Walker who took her to play Wales for the Celtic Dragons side.
