Sisters of Cluny

Founders of the respected St Annes Primary School and St Josephs Secondary School in Suva,
the Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny continue on with their rich legacy despite old age.

On any given day, you are likely to spot the stooped figure of a tiny Catholic nun walking purposefully through the streets of Suva.
She would be 91-year-old Sister Angela Cavey, the oldest member in Fiji of the Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny – and at her age still running errands for her small convent at Hercules Street.
Sister Angela, an Irishwoman who’s spent 34 years serving in Fiji, may be diminutive but her ready smile makes her stand out and is something for which she’s remembered fondly of by the hundreds of girls she’s taught at St Anne’s Primary School and St Joseph’s Secondary School.
