The journey to the 2014 Miss World Fiji has begun after the announcement of the top ten finalists by the event organizers at Tappoo City yesterday (April 30). Miss World Fiji director, Andhy Blake, said the selection process for the sixty applicants was difficult but they are quite content with the decision they have made.

“We’ve had around sixty girls from around Fiji and abroad. We have some international competitors from Chile and Australia,” he said. “With the selection that we had, it was difficult but we feel that we’ve got the right ten, one of which is going to be selected to become Miss Fiji.”

According to the organizers, the ten finalists would have to go through boot camp where they would be trained on the different preparations that they would need for the Miss World Pageant in London.

Blake also mentioned that for Miss World Fiji to be successful in the 64th Miss World competition in London, she would need the backing of her country and the right team.

“We need the support of the country and secondly we need the right team behind the contestants and I know this year we do have the right team,” he said.

The Miss World Fiji final will be held at the Pearl South Pacific Resort on July 26.
