THE second largest banking group in France – BRED Bank opened another branch, the sixth one in Fiji at Valelevu, Nasinu yesterday.
BRED Bank CEO Darryl Constantin in his opening remarks said the bank which was established a little over 100 years ago and provides services to all types of customers with strong local presence everyday.
“The group itself serves about 36million customers with close to 8000 branches and a growing presence in Africa, Europe, Asia and of course the Pacific,” Mr Constantin said.
“Our Pacific operations is expanding with presence in New Caledonia, Tahiti, Vanuatu, Fiji and soon the Solomon Islands,” he added.
Chief Guest Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said in his address that BRED Bank’s presence in Fiji is a welcome show of confidence in our growing economy and an important step towards mainstreaming more of our people into our financial systems.
“Thank you for your investment in this new branch and your recognition that Fiji is on the right path, that we are becoming a more prosperous country and that my Government has a clear and consistent way forward for our national development,” Mr Bainimarama said.
“On the back of our seventh consecutive year of economic growth, the Fijian economy is the strongest and most successful it has ever been,” he added.
Mr Bainimarama said the government’s record achievement has brought unprecedented opportunity for the Fijian people and inspired unrivalled confidence from hundreds of our local and international business partners – BRED Bank included.
