HIS Excellency the President of Fiji Major-General (Retired) Jioji Konusi Konrote thanked overseas based players representing the Fiji Bati rugby league team.

“I wish to congratulate all of you and also thank you for choosing to play for Fiji,” Mr Konrote said.

“I have been following the sport very closely and I know that many talented and in demand players have chosen to play for their country of origin.”

Mr Konrote added it was humbling to see that players didn’t look at the lucrative deals offered by other countries or clubs but instead chose to represent Fiji.

“You the players have chosen patriotism over those lucrative deals.”

With 18 national rugby league players, Mr Konrote added the team made a lethal combination for any opponent.

He wished the Fiji Bati team the very best of luck and that the nation is behind them all the way.

Fiji Bati team captain Kevin Naiqama said it was an honour and a priviledge to be representing Fiji and donning the Fiji Bati jersey.
