FNPF closed for the day

_DSC1776 Staff of the Fiji National Provident Fund in Suva were sent home after their building had to be inspected by the National Fire Authority following heavy smoke caused from a circuit explosion in a chiller caused their building to close for the day.

Smoke were still visible on the floors of the FNPF building one hour after the small fire started. There were no major damages caused however in a briefing to the FNPF workers, National Fire Authority Chief Executive Officer John O’ Connor who was at the site to inspect the building said heavy smoke came from the chimney above the building, and because of the heat, most of the electric wiring near the exhaust pipe melted and got damaged.

The billowing smoke caused their customer service system to close down for the day.
