Joint operation to recapture prison inmate

Inmate Ulaiasi Qalomai is still on the run after escaping on Friday, 21 November, from a work party outside of the Lautoka Corrections Facility.

The 18 year-old escapee is originally from Daria, Wainunu in Bua with his residential address located in Navoci, Nadi.

Qalomai was sentenced to jail for a year and five months on 28 July this year for theft.

While a joint operation is currently being conducted by Correction officers and officers of the Fiji Police Forces, the Fiji Corrections Service is appealing to the public for information on his whereabouts.

The general public has been warned that it is a criminal offence to harbour escapees.

Anyone with any information that will lead to his capture should contact the nearest Police Station or Corrections Institution or contact the following mobile numbers: 9905072 and 9905580 or 9905077.
