After moving to Sydney last week in order to work on our Australian content, and cover photo shoot, order the Style office has this week moved to Apia, Samoa!
We are staying at the incredible 4 ½ Star Tanoa Tuisitala in the heart of Polynesias central port town. The hotel offers exceptional service, with the renowned warmth of the Samoan people as one of its greatest strengths.
Yesterday, as soon as we landed, and were swiftly and efficiently picked up by the Tanoa Tuisitala transfer van, we were met by the vivacious Allan Alo who generously spent his day showing us the sights and sounds of Apia.
We were introduced to Jackie Loheni of infamously successful Samoan brand (and Pacific institution) Mena with whom we discussed issues of Pacific Island identity.
Allan also took us to meet the gracious Vaitoa who explained to us the uniquely Samoan faafafine identity. You can read all about this in our upcoming September issue of Style.
This was followed by an impromptu Twerk Off between the Style Editor and Publisher judged by none other than the incredibly talented Allan Alo. Obviously, the Style Editor won.
We ended our night at Oh La La where we enjoyed a hearty feast before finally calling it a night. We were surprised to have lasted as long as we did – each of us having clocked a mere one-hours sleep the night before.
There is so much more to see and do. Keep an eye on our website for daily updates of our adventures, as well as a sneak preview of our numerous photo shoots.
